Composition Roofing
Composition (asphalt) shingles are the most popular roof in the Bay Area for a reason, affordable, durable, and great-looking when installed right.
Quality Roofing Since 2002
What Composition Roofing Is
Composition shingles are asphalt-based roofing tiles reinforced with fiberglass or organic mat. They're the standard residential roof across the Peninsula.
Benefits
Cost-effective, lightweight, easy to repair, and available in dozens of colors and profiles. Architectural ('dimensional') shingles add depth and last 30-50 years.
When To Choose Composition
Best for most single-family homes, especially when you want a great-looking roof at a fair price. Not ideal where you want the look of tile or slate.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do composition shingles last in the Bay Area?
Standard 3-tab shingles last 15–20 years. Architectural (dimensional) shingles typically last 25–30 years, and premium products can reach 40–50 years. The Bay Area's mild climate is easy on shingles compared to hail-prone regions.
What's the difference between 3-tab and architectural shingles?
3-tab shingles are flat and uniform — the basic option. Architectural shingles are thicker, multi-layered, and have a textured, dimensional look. Architectural shingles cost more but last longer and look significantly better. We recommend architectural for most homes.
Which brands do you install?
We work with GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed — the three leading composition shingle manufacturers. All offer strong manufacturer warranties and a wide range of colors and profiles.
Is composition roofing allowed in my HOA?
Most Bay Area HOAs allow composition shingles, though some specify certain colors or profiles. We can help you identify compliant options before you commit to a product.
How do I choose the right shingle color?
We recommend pulling a sample of the actual shingle and viewing it against your home's exterior in natural light before deciding. Colors look different on a roof than in a brochure. We're happy to walk you through options during the estimate.
